6 Day Kilimanjaro – Climbing Kilimanjaro Rongai route - Fargin Safaris

6 Day Kilimanjaro – Climbing Kilimanjaro Rongai route

6 Days 5 Nights

Overview

The 6-Day Rongai Route is the only path to Kilimanjaro that starts on the mountain’s northern slopes. This quieter area receives fewer hikers but is equally captivating, offering a solitary and serene trekking experience ideal for those who enjoy remote landscapes. The drive from Moshi to the starting point at Nalemuru Gate takes approximately 3–4 hours.

Rongai is also the only route that provides access to Mawenzi, Kilimanjaro’s volcanic cone and Africa’s third-highest peak. On the descent, the trail passes via Marangu, giving climbers the chance to experience both the northern and southern flanks of the mountain.

Although the route can be completed in six or seven days, the longer itinerary is recommended to allow proper acclimatization and improve summit success. Upon arrival in Tanzania, you will be picked up from Kilimanjaro International Airport and transferred to your hotel. A professional guide will conduct a trek briefing and equipment check, ensuring you have all the necessary gear for the climb. You will then spend the night at the hotel. Meals included: breakfast and dinner.
